Visit Panama Rocks Scenic Park
A Quick History Lesson
Before we go into why this park is a must, let’s explain a little Panama Rocks history. The park is privately owned and has been since 1885. It was founded the same year as the oldest state park in the United States. The current owners purchased the property in 1979 and have since worked tirelessly to restore the park’s historic buildings and maintain the beauty for which it has become known.
Explore the Park
There is plenty of great Panama Rocks climbing to be had at this park! From the giant rock formations to the deep crevices, visitors are permitted to explore. Since this is a nature park, visitors are expected to be responsible for their own safety, so climb at your own risk.
For those hoping to take it easy at the park, there is a one-mile long hiking trail that goes through the center of the park. Off-trail exploring is not permitted in this area and the trail is not wheelchair accessible. Visitors are asked to watch their steps, don’t run, and be mindful of the other guests.
Attend the Panama Rocks Festival
Of all the Panama Rocks events held at the park, the Wild American Nature Festival is the highlight. This annual festival is held in late July and features arts and crafts, cook-offs, art workshops, lectures from well-known speakers and artists, and plenty of live music.
