Book Your Tee Time
There are two stunning golf courses from which to choose: The Lake Course and The Hill Course. The Lake Course is the original course built in 1924 by Donald Ross. It has since been redesigned. The Hill Course was built in 1994. Both are highly rated by golfers. These courses are both open for the public and you can book your tee time online.
Go Back to School
Of course, it wouldn’t be the Chautauqua Institution if it didn’t educate the public. There are plenty of clinics and classes that visitors can take. There are a couple one-hour blocks available for a limited number of students. There is also an eight-week series, Lowest Score Wins, that focuses on one skill per week with the goal of lowering the student’s score immediately. You can also learn how to read the green in the Read, Bead, and Speed class. The course runs one week and covers the basics of green reading as well as how to improve your distance control and the stroke mechanics.
If you’d rather have a private lesson, sign up for a class with the Director of Instruction at The Learning Center, David Wedzik. You can also receive a lesson from famous author Erik J. Barzeski, who is said to have written the best golf book on the market. If you’re serious about golf, you’ll definitely want to take advantage of these fantastic instructors.
Grab a Bite at The Double Eagle Cafe
If you’re in the mood for a light lunch, stop by The Double Eagle Cafe. It serves food from a local favorite, Andriaccios, and is located just behind the 18th green of the Lake Course. Enjoy delicious hot dogs, wraps, and daily specials, as well as a beer from the award-winning Southern Tier Brewing Company.
Stay at The Spencer Hotel & Spa
After you’ve shot your holes at the Chautauqua Golf Club, return to The Spencer Hotel & Spa for an incredible night of sleep. Consider booking our room modeled after Lord Byron, which is beautiful enough to inspire poetry. Decorated in rich reds, this room featured a king-sized bed and a neo-angled shower.
Refresh your body and your mind with a visit to The Spencer Spa. Whether you choose to add a relaxing package to your reservation or you simply want a single treatment, our spa is the perfect way to indulge. The Spencer Restorative Massage is incredible.
