Visit the Lucy Desi Museum & Center for Comedy

The Lucy Desi Museum & Center for Comedy is located in Jamestown, NY, the birthplace of Lucille Ball. It’s about 25 minutes from The Spencer Hotel & Spa. The museum is open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Saturday, and 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. General admission to the museum is $15.

Learn About the Lives of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz

When you first enter the museum, you’ll see panels describing the personal histories of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. The museum has collected personal stories from Lucy’s childhood friends as well as audio from Desi’s autobiography.

Tour Desilu Studios

One of the most popular areas at the museum is Desilu Studios. Inside, you’ll find recreated sets, original costumes, and exhibits dedicated to telling the history of I Love Lucy, starting with the original radio program “My Favorite Husband” that later spawned this iconic show. When you visit this area of the museum, you’ll be able to do everything from creating your version of the “Vitameatavegamin” commercial to see behind-the-scenes photos from the set of I Love Lucy.

One of the most impressive recreations is the Tropicana Room. It’s a recreation of Ricky Ricardo’s famous Manhattan nightclub and is available to rent. Superfans of the show can watch your favorite episodes of the classic television program while enjoying a meal.
